Cook, Learn, Grow Together

Looking for something different to do with the kids these school holidays?

Plate it Up Families is coming to Eaglehawk Community House, giving parents, grandparents and carers the opportunity to cook, learn and connect alongside their primary school-aged children.

Plate it Up Families is about much more than learning a recipe. The sessions help families build practical food knowledge and skills they can use at home, from

choosing affordable, nutritious everyday foods and trying new ingredients to reducing food waste and making the most of what is available.

Food is also a wonderful way to connect generations. Children are encouraged to explore their family's food stories, hearing from parents and grandparents about the foods they grew up with while creating new memories together in the kitchen.

Throughout the sessions, children can get hands-on with food, practise kitchen skills and grow their confidence in trying something new. There is plenty of fun along the way too, with activities such as the popular smoothie bike bringing food literacy to life.

Following the success of the first series, Plate it Up Food Literacy will deliver three Plate it Up Families sessions at Eaglehawk Community House on 23, 28 and 30 September.

If you're a parent, grandparent or carer of primary school-aged children, we'd love you to join us. Come along, meet other families and build practical skills for nutritious, affordable everyday eating and cooking.

Places are limited. Contact Eaglehawk Community House or email admin@plateitup.org.au to secure your spot.
