Cafe 19 Bright Street - Update!
What an incredible week at Café 19!
Last week was our busiest week yet, with more than 30 people popping in for lunch across our open days. We are so proud to see this initiative growing and becoming a welcoming space for our community. It's been wonderful to watch people connect, relax, and enjoy what Café 19 has to offer.
One of the highlights of Café 19 has been welcoming a young student baker completing work experience with our team.
From helping in the kitchen to learning the day-to-day operations of a busy café, she has become a valued member of our team and a wonderful help each week. We have loved watching her develop her skills and confidence as she takes on new challenges.
When asked about her favourite recipe to make, she didn't hesitate to answer: Lemon Slice! 🍋
We also asked what she enjoys most about being part of the Café 19 team. Her response was simple but meaningful: "Having experience and skills."
At Café 19, we believe that work experience is about so much more than learning recipes. It's about building confidence, learning to work as part of a team, developing practical workplace skills, and gaining real-world experience that can help open doors to future employment opportunities.
We are proud to support young people as they discover their strengths and develop skills they can carry with them into the future. Watching our young baker grow in confidence and capability has been a pleasure, and we look forward to continuing to support her journey.
A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. Whether you've stopped in for a coffee, enjoyed lunch with friends, or helped spread the word, your encouragement means the world to us.
